Fishing Vessel Safety Folder

The Fishing Vessel Safety Folder was developed by Marine Services in response to concerns within the industry regarding risk assessments. The object of risk assessment is to consider the risks to health and safety, and to take measures to prevent or reduce the risk. Proper completion of a written assessment will show that health and safety has been considered and that every reasonable effort has been made to ensure the vessel is safe for those aboard.

The folder contains example risk assessment forms for various types of fishing operations, providing useful guidance to help fishermen perform adequate risk assessments.

Guidance is also provided within the folder for other safety documents, including the vessel safety policy, crew list and statement, and safety equipment checklist.

The folder is very popular throughout the UK and is available FREE to fishermen and fishing boat owners (subject to availability). To obtain a copy, please contact Marine Services via the contact page. Alternatively, if you have Adobe Reader installed on your PC, you can view the individual sections of the folder using the links below. With regard to the actual risk assessment forms, you will need to use the form for 'All Vessels' as well as the relevant forms relating to the fishing methods undertaken by the vessel.
