  Oil and Gas Awareness

In an attempt to improve relations between the fishing industry and the oil & gas industry, Kingfisher has worked on several projects over the years raising awareness and understanding between the two industries. It has been through the Kingfisher Information Service UK Continental Shelf project, and in close co-operation with FLTC (Fisheries Legacy Trust Company), that Kingfisher has promoted the awareness of all surface and subsea obstructions.

The main objective of undertaking such projects is to disseminate, in both digital (electronic) and paper (chart) formats, accurate positional data on all surface and sea-bed oil & gas installations (eg. platforms, pipelines, wellheads, etc) throughout the UK Continental Shelf - available FREE to all fishing vessels working in the area. The data is compatible with the most popular fishing plotters including Sodena, Trax, SIS, Microplot, Winfish, Litton Fishmaster, Chartworx/Quodfish, Maxsea, Penta and Transas Navfish 3000 systems.

Kingfisher also manage the 'FishSAFE' wesbite (www.fishsafe.eu) for the FLTC, which offers fishermen greater insight into the oil & gas infrastructure within the UKCS. Surface and subsea oil and gas structures are described in five langauges, with illustrations helping fishermen visualise to structures that share the seabed. The latest Kingfisher Fortnightly Bulletin information is also displayed 'live' on the news pages, creating the most up-to-date source for offshore oil & gas activities.

To receive regular FREE updates of Oil & Gas Awareness Charts, please email Kingfisher stating your interest. The fishing plotter files can be downloaded by clicking on your specific fishing plotter in the table below.

  Submarine Cable Awareness

Owing to the huge increase in submarine telecommunications cable activity over recent years, there has become a real need to accurately chart cable route positions.

Through the Kingfisher Information Service Cable Awareness (KISCA) project, Kingfisher has promoted cable awareness through dissemination of both digital (electronic) and paper (chart) formats, of in-service submarine telecommunications cables - available FREE to all fishing vessels. This has been achieved through close co-operation with the UK Cable Protection Committee (www.ukcpc.org.uk).

The data is available in either paper or electronic formats and is compatible with the most popular fishing plotters, including Sodena, Trax, SIS Microplot, Winfish, Litton Fishmaster, Chartworx/Quodfish, Maxsea, Penta and Transas Navfish 3000 systems.

To receive regular FREE updates of Cable Awareness Charts in either electronic or paper format, please email Kingfisher stating your interest. To download the charts and fishing plotter files for yourself, and to receive further submarine cable information, please visit www.kisca.org.uk

  Fortnightly Bulletin

The Kingfisher Fortnightly Bulletin is funded by the Scottish Government - Marine Directorate, The Crown Estate and the UK Cable Protection Committee (UKCPC). It is produced in order to provide essential information on all offshore oil and gas, subsea cable and wind and marine renewable operations.

The Bulletin includes such information as seismic survey operations, seabed activity, field developments, rig moves, suspended well amendments, installation schedules, possible seabed hazards, deployment of buoys, and more.

It is also used to notify fishermen of updates to other Kingfisher publications and new products as they become available.

The Bulletin is distributed bi-weekly in both paper and electronic formats. It can be received through the post, via email or viewed on this website.

To view any one of the latest six issues, or relevant cable page, please select a link from the menu below. Alternatively, to receive a copy by email, please contact Kingfisher with your request.

  Yellow Card

The Kingfisher Yellow Card is a listing of suspended wellheads and their co-ordinates. Suspended wellheads are structures left on the seabed by operators intending to carry out further operations at a future date.

In this event, a guide base is left on the seabed to facilitate re-entry. The structure resembles an inverted table, approximately 12ft square, with legs some 12-15ft from the seabed.

The Yellow Card is distributed twice a year in both paper and electronic formats. It can be received through the post, via email or viewed on this website.

To view the latest issue of the Yellow Card, please click here. Alternatively, to receive a copy by email, please contact Kingfisher with your request.

  Awareness Flyers

Kingfisher provide a 'Special Charts Service' for all organisations undertaking offshore activities. This may come in the form of cable lays, pipeline installations, wind farm developments or field activities and are produced to provide fishermen with accurate information of the work involved, location and timescale.

Flyers are produced in a variety of sizes, formats and languages to suit the activity and area of operations. These can also be distributed to fishermen throughout Europe upon request.

For further information on Kingfisher's 'Special Charts Service', or to receive copies of recently produced flyers, please contact Kingfisher with your request. Please see the latest flyers below.
