Seafish Construction Standards

Seafish provides its own set of Construction Standards, developed in close consultation with the Maritime and Coastguard Agency (MCA), fishing vessel builders and fishing industry representatives. These standards, which also cover aspects of machinery, electrical installations and outfit, consist of two main sub-sets which are in compliance with the relevant codes of practice published by the MCA. These two sub-sets are as follows:-

- Seafish Construction Standards for fishing vessels and work boats less than 15 metres in length overall (constructed of steel, aluminium, wood and GRP).

- Seafish Construction Standards for fishing vessels and work boats of 15 metres length overall to 24 metres registered length (constructed of steel and aluminium).

Both sets of standards include complete outfit requirements and recommendations.

Note: Standards relating to the construction of multi-hulled fishing vessels will also be included later this year. Requirements for wood and GRP vessels over 15 metres are available upon request.
